Attorney Sabre O. Brown is called upon to defend an abused 14 year-old boy of murder after a body is discovered in a shallow grave with the word GOOF scrawled across his forehead.
Years later when more bodies are unearthed baring the same GOOF signature, two more abused juveniles are accused of the gruesome slayings. In order to convince a jury of her client's innocence, Sabre must either find a copycat killer, prove the murderer was a trusted friend of the three boys, or realize her worst fear - that her teenage clients carried out their own brand of vigilante justice on the men who abused them.

I wait anxiously for each new book to come out. It is hard to imagine they could keep outdoing the last or perhaps more important, continue to be excellent, page turning reads. It's like this....You cannot put it down & yet you don't want it to end. Her characters are so well described that I felt I knew from her very first book and people I would love to meet. She is to me & clearly others, an amazing Author. If I may add a personal note. I was fortunate enough to meet Teresa at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Palm Desert where she was promoting her second book. I bought that and the first & was forever hooked and...... made fans of so many others. I tease them with a loan of the first & they go out & buy the rest. She is so very gracious.I think of her as a friend.Product details

The Advocate Homicides The Advocate Series Book 8 (Audible Audio Edition) Teresa Burrell John Bell Books Reviews
This book was an emotional story for me and then reading about the author, I understood the connection. I actually knew who the guilty individual was early on but didn't have the information to explain my reasoning.
Everything about the storyline could, unfortunately, be based in fact. Too often there are children who have been abused, put into the system and who are "lost." " Tray" and the others are lucky to have had an advocate such as Teresa Burrell fighting for them in many ways. As a retired teacher of children and youth with Special Needs, I applaud your work!
I really love this series, and am looking forward to the next book - hopefully it's out soon! Teresa Burrell has a very easy to read writing style, and has a knack for creating secondary characters that you really care about. I often find myself reading the latest book in a series I enjoy simply to find out what is happening in the main characters' lives, but in this series I also greatly enjoy the new characters introduced in each book and their stories.
The author's knowledge and experience in the law and child advocacy is also clear, which makes the books feel real and not overdone.Although this can be read alone, I would recommend reading the series in order.
After reading a couple of the Advocate books, I had to find the rest! Very seldom do I feel the need to do that! This one was amazing, just like the others....I just hope there are more to come! Along with courtroom drama, investigation with JP, I have to find out how Sabre and JP's personal connection plays out. Just can't get enough of the Advocate series!
I liked the story flow, well-defined characters, and complex plot in this legal thriller/murder mystery. However, the subject matter is a very unpleasant one, trying to find the killer of a pedophile to prove the innocence of one of his victims. Eventually the system fails the innocent victim and victimizes him again buy trying him as an adult and finding him guilty of the murder, although he denies having anything to do with it. The rest of the book is about attempts at finding out if he was the killer and if not, trying to find how did it. Meanwhile bodies of several other pedophiles are found in the same burial ground where the first one was found years earlier, puzzling the authorities how the crime was committed and by whom.
The Advocate's Homicides is a true suspenseful mystery which kept me reading through the night. Sabre and JP are true to form, always seeking the best legal solution, and in this novel, trying to free an innocent boy from prison. There are four murdered child molesters, and the boys they abused all lived in the same group home at different times. The police are convinced that the boys are the killers, while Sabre is convinced of their innocence. So who did it? Or was it a conspiracy of vigilantes? You will want to read this book; it's everything a good mystery should be
Although I did guess the perpetrator pretty early on, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked trying to figure out how the crimes could possibly have been committed. Again, I did guess correctly on the basics, but there was so much more to it. I liked that there were plenty of red herrings that had me questioning my initial hypothesis. I liked the legal proceedings even though they were frustrating and seemed unfair - which only made them seem more realistic. I liked the way the interpersonal relationships of the recurring characters progressed. I liked how the author drew out my compassion for these fictional children (and their very real counterparts.) This was a little different from the other books in the series with less action and more day-to-day investigative work. I found it all quite interesting.
Many other reviews have mentioned how this book is out of order or some such thing,
because of Sabre and JP's relationship. Well those people must have missed the part that
says this book starts "3 years before present time" telling the back story of a case Sabre had
where a young man "Tray" was charged with murder. THEN, in chapter 35, around 56% into the
book, it then goes to "PRESENT TIME" and tells how 3 other murders are connected to that first one
3 years earlier.....
The only thing I can say is those people who said this book is out of order did not READ the entire book,
they skimmed past the important part by doing so.
Okay that said I did like this mystery, it was a good story, but I give it 3 stars because I didn't enjoy it as
much as some of the others in this series. I had the bad guy picked out way early.
But I do recommend the book... it's decent give it shot, but take notice of the timing.
Happy reading
