An enlightening book written to aid readers in understanding how therapeutic riding provides an effective form of therapy for those suffering from post-traumatic brain injuries (TBI). It elucidates how the unique properties of the horse are instrumental in the recovery of psychologically and physically impaired riders. This expertly composed book also aims to guide the reader towards a more in depth understanding of TBI, the brain and its plasticity, and the complexities of TBI sufferers. In this visionary work, Ms Shkedi presents both personal accounts and case studies, providing greater insight into TR sessions, which have motivated change even in the most challenging and multifaceted situations. Shkedi has resourcefully included teaching notes concurrent with the content, enabling the reader to become familiar with her unprecedented approach.

I really love the information of this book, how it reads, and that it brings awareness of TBI and Therapeutic Riding to the medical and mental health field. However, the only issue I have with the book itself is that some of the pages seem to have been double printed on, I'm thinking a printing accident and the off-printing goes from page 17 to page 32. Now, I don't know if this is a common issue, or if it just happened to My Book that I received. While there is no need for me to send the book back, I'm happy with it, I just wanted the printers to be aware of the issue.Product details

Traumatic Brain Injury Therapeutic Riding Anita Shkedi Anat Shalev 9789659192403 Books Reviews
As there is almost no information on this topic, this book is a good introduction to the topic. As a tool for developing programs, it does a not provide much information. I can't wait for her next book as her experience in this field spans over decades
I volunteer at the Caisson Platoon Equine Assisted Program on Fort Belvoir, VA- this program is designed for wounded warriors.
Please see their site [...]
The head of the program, Larry, uses this literature in helping him guide the students get better via the horse and their TBI.
An incredible read.
Thank you!!!
Very innovative techniques taught in an informative and fascinating way! At our facility we are using TR to treat only post combat TBI and we will be incorporating Dr. Shkedi's methods into our programming. Thank you for your attention to this particular population of TBI sufferers!
